Following allegations of contamination dangers, two dog food manufacturers have recalled their products. Due to possible metal contamination, Fromm Family Foods LLC recalled Fromm wet canned dog food on August 21, 2026.
This announcement came after Oma’s Pride recalled raw dog food on August 17, 2026, due to possible salmonella contamination.
639 bags of frozen Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe are included in the Oma’s Pride recall. Testing conducted by the Food and Drug Administration in response to a customer complaint revealed that a product sample contained salmonella. No human illnesses have been linked to the product, however three dog ailments have been documented.
Twelve individually wrapped, eight-ounce vacuum-sealed portions of the same Oma’s Pride product are offered in six-pound gusseted stand-up bags.
The recalled lot has a best-by date of January 27, 2029 and was manufactured on January 27, 2026. The bags were shipped to merchants and wholesalers in 11 states between February 12 and May 15, 2026: Arizona, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. They were also shipped directly to customers via internet orders.
Both humans handling the food and pets eating it are at danger for health problems due to salmonella contamination, especially if hands and surfaces are not properly cleaned. Although healthy pets can also act as symptomless carriers, infected animals may exhibit lethargy, diarrhoea, fever, vomiting, decreased appetite, and stomach pain. In addition to experiencing symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, cramping in the abdomen, and fever, humans exposed to salmonella may be at risk for serious side effects like arthritis, endocarditis, and arterial infections.
Pet owners who bought the recalled raw dog food are advised to cease giving it to their pets right away, dispose of it properly, and get in touch with Oma’s Pride for a complete refund. Additionally, all pet bowls, cups, and storage containers that came into contact with the food should be cleaned and sanitised by consumers.
