After making the impulsive decision to purchase her first lottery ticket, a woman from North Carolina earned a sizable payout.
According to a news statement from the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL), Kahla Jeffries, a resident of Gastonia, said that everything happened when she made a usual petrol stop at Will’s Food Store on Hickory Grove Road.
She chose to take a chance after spotting a specific scratch-off ticket.
According to the NCEL, she recalled, “That one just caught my eye.”
The ticket, which was a $100,000 Cash Payday scratch-off, ended up winning a $100,000 top prize.
Jeffries claimed she had a hard time believing what she had won.
She remarked, “I didn’t think I was looking at it right.”
On July 24, Jeffries went to lottery headquarters to pick up her winnings. According to NCEL, she received $72,018 after the necessary federal and state tax withholdings.
According to Jeffries, she intends to save money for school and purchase a car with her winnings.
In March, the $100,000 Cash Payday scratch-off game made its premiere with 80 $100,000 top prizes.
According to NCEL, 58 of those awards were still unclaimed as of July 24.

At the North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters on Friday, Jeffries picked up her winnings. She received $72,018 after the necessary state and federal tax deductions.
